Taj Exotica Resort

Taj Exotica Resort is a major Indian luxury chain of hotels with a vast network of branches around the world 

Their first major Resort in UAE was opened in Dubai Palm Jumeirah back in 2021.

The Resort is built on the east crescent of Palm Jumeirah Island in Dubai. 

Due to the large size of the hotel structure, the contractors used the beach area as the storage point for their construction materials. This has resulted in a large concentration of construction rubbish debris such as crushed stones, concrete, tiles, and other general disposables. The beach condition was not suitable for guests and needed to be rectified immediately.

• there is not site access for sand delivery trucks and heavy equipment to mobalize.

BHMK was appointed as the marine contractor for the project. First, we conducted a topographical survey to check the elevation of the existing profile relative to the Dubai Municipality datum. 

samples of high-quality washed beach sand were carefully selected and submitted for the client to be approved for the nourishment project. Based on the DMD data we were able to design a new beach crest and beach profile. Dubai Municipality Environment department coastal section permits were obtained and the project started.

The project took place in the February of 2022 just before the hotel opening ceremony.

• •55 x Trips of tipper trucks each loaded with 20 cubic meters of washed and sieved 3mm beach sand.

• 1 x JCB 3CX Backhoe Loader
• 2 x S140 Bobcat Skid Steer Loader
• 4 x Metal Board Sheets for floor protection

A total of 1100 cubic meters of washed beach sand was supplied during the first 8 days of the work commencement. The existing beach slope has been changed and elevated on an average of 20CM from the water high tide area to the plot landscaped border.

The beach's new profile curve is more suitable for the beachgoers and the relative elevation of the hardscape area of the resort till the HAT line of the water.
